Current preoccupations....Jimmy Reed

Today was foggy, silver, and cold outside.

I blew off a tour of trees at the Presidio.

Also a promising Duke Ellington concert at Yerba Vista Gardens.

I stayed home to drink tea and listen to music. Brilliant. Went on a many-hours long Jimmy Reed spree.
This song is insane. Rhythm keeps shifting and changing character starting around 0:43 - make no sense - completely brilliant - and he is so sly and grinning wily "But's let's get taagethaaah, baaaaaybaaah....see what we can do."

This song is all about the roll...

Another roller...with a slightly different vibe, clearer, with more delicate guitar sound - who is that playing? so delicate and such a different style - such a more traditional ballad - the form of the song I mean - but as it goes, on I disagree with myself....those drums! that's no traditional anything. I keeping saying, with each one, this is my favorite Jimmy Reed song.

Similar guitar sound "Caress me baby, like a wind caress a tree...I wantcha to love me like a soft soft summer breeze." Gulp!

My friend Billy turned me onto this song, specifically, saying:
there's a great Jimmy Reed song called "I'm Nervous" - -- it's him and Mama doing a duet - - - it's fantastic! Anyway, they never say "I'm nervous" - - -the line is "I love you" (I guess making the joke that's he's stuttering - - -- - - but that's not as important as the whole experience itself. Such fine music!

good hell!!!! all kinds of crazy fiddle here - inSANE "Odds and Ends" - fiddle player also happened to be the producer.
